The 45 degree post cap closes off the open sections at the top of a galvanised steel 45 degree corner post. A corner post has two open channels rather than one, so leaving it uncapped gives water and debris two ways into the section. The cap also squares off the splay, which on a 45 degree turn is usually the most visible part of the wall.
