Concrete Sleeper Timber Finish SECONDS are the same sleepers as our standard timber finish line in charcoal, set aside because of cosmetic imperfections. Expect minor surface blemishes, chipped edges or corners, patchy colour and variation from one sleeper to the next. They are structurally sound and priced well below the full price range.

Seconds suit any wall where the face will not be on show, such as courses below ground level, walls that get backfilled or hidden behind a garden bed, a shed or a fence, and jobs where the budget matters more than the finish. On a textured face like the timber grain pattern, blemishes are often less obvious than they are on a smooth sleeper, so it pays to look at the current stock.

What seconds are, and what they are not

• Blemishes can include surface marks, chips, colour variation and softer detail in the grain
• Appearance varies sleeper to sleeper and batch to batch, so they are sold as seen
• Stock is limited and turns over quickly, so sizes and quantities are not guaranteed
