Concrete Sleeper Slate Stone Finish

The slate stone concrete sleeper has a stone textured face, so the wall reads as natural stone while it is built the same way as any post and panel wall: sleepers stacked horizontally between galvanised steel posts. It suits garden walls and terraces where you want the look without the cost or the machine handling of real sandstone.

Structurally it is identical to every sleeper we make, 40 MPa at 28 days with two N12 bars, RPEQ certified.

Add 10mm to the post centres if a fence is going on top of the wall. Courses are the wall height divided by 200mm, rounded up, so a 1 metre wall is 5 courses.

Handling

At 54kg to 87kg a sleeper this is a two person lift by hand, which is why we deliver on crane trucks and why the sleeper grab exists. Cutting releases silica dust, so use a wet saw or dust extraction with a P2 or P3 respirator, and seal the cut face with galvanising spray or bitumastic paint.

Building courses that get buried?

Cosmetic slate stone seconds are the same product with surface blemishes, chipped edges or colour variation, at a substantial discount. On a textured face like this one, blemishes are often less obvious than they are on a smooth sleeper, so it is worth looking at current stock. Everything in the seconds and clearance range is sold as seen, so ask us for photos first.
