Concrete Sleeper Smooth Charcoal

The smooth charcoal concrete sleeper is the dark faced option in our range, and the one most people pick when the wall sits against a rendered house or a Colorbond fence. Same structure as every sleeper we make, 40 MPa at 28 days with two N12 bars, RPEQ certified, with a flat charcoal face instead of the standard grey.

It stacks horizontally between galvanised steel posts in the usual post and panel system, so it takes the same posts, the same wedges and the same caps as the rest of the range.

Add 10mm to the post centres if a fence is going on top of the wall. Courses are the wall height divided by 200mm, rounded up, so a 1 metre wall is 5 courses.

Handling

At 54kg to 87kg a sleeper this is a two person lift by hand, which is why we deliver on crane trucks and why the sleeper grab exists. Cutting releases silica dust, so use a wet saw or dust extraction with a P2 or P3 respirator, and seal the cut face with galvanising spray or bitumastic paint.

Building courses that get buried?

Cosmetic smooth charcoal seconds are the same product with surface blemishes, chipped edges or colour variation, at a substantial discount. Plenty of builders run seconds on the lower courses that end up below ground or behind a garden bed, then full price sleepers on the top course people actually see. Everything in the seconds and clearance range is sold as seen, so ask us for photos of current stock first.
