HYBUILT's galvanised steel C posts are the end posts in a post and panel retaining wall. The single sided channel lets the wall finish neatly at each end, at a step, or hard against a structure, where an H post would leave an open slot. Hot dip galvanised for long term corrosion resistance in the Queensland climate, and suitable with our concrete, timber or sandstone sleepers.
C channel at the ends, H posts through the middle. That is the normal arrangement, and most walls need two C posts and the rest H. For engineered or taller walls see the heavy duty 150PFC range.
Section details
The post is a 100PFC parallel flange channel to AS/NZS 3679.1. The clear opening is the slot your sleeper sits in, and the flange length is how far the sleeper is held.

An 86.6mm opening takes our 75mm concrete sleepers with room to pack out, which is what the non-perishable wedges are for. The 50mm flange means the sleeper end is held roughly 46mm into the channel, so set your wall out to suit.

Weights below are the galvanised post as supplied, which runs a little above the bare steel mass because of the coating.

Working out the length you need
As a rule of thumb the post is twice the wall height, because the recommended pier depth matches the height of the wall. A 1.2m wall therefore takes a 2.4m post. Use the wall calculator to size and count them, and read the steel post installation guide before you dig. Where your wall has an engineered design, use the post length, spacing and pier depth in that design rather than a rule of thumb.
Walls over about 1 metre high commonly need council approval and an engineered design, and approval can also be triggered by loads behind the wall, a slope above it, or the wall sitting close to a building, a boundary or another wall. Thresholds vary by council across South East Queensland and Northern NSW, so confirm what applies to your site with your local council or a building certifier before you order.
Turning a corner
Where the wall changes direction, a 90 degree or 45 degree corner post joins two channels with a full steel plate, so you are not cutting or fabricating on site. Finish the top of a C post with a C channel post cap.
