HYBUILT's galvanised steel 45 degree corner posts turn a retaining wall through a shallower angle than a right angle return, without cutting or fabricating on site. Two 100PFC channels are joined by a full steel plate, so the corner arrives as one welded piece and sleepers slot straight into each face. Hot dip galvanised for long term corrosion resistance in the Queensland climate.
A 45 degree turn is what you want for a splayed corner, a driveway entry, or where a wall follows a curve in steps rather than a hard right angle. For a right angle return, see the 90 degree corner post. Use C posts at the open ends and H posts through the straight runs.
Section details
Each face is a 100PFC parallel flange channel to AS/NZS 3679.1, the same section as our standard C post, so the sleeper fit is identical on both faces of the corner.

An 86.6mm opening takes our 75mm concrete sleepers with room to pack out, which is what the non-perishable wedges are for. The 45 degree post carries slightly more steel than the 90 degree because of the plate geometry, which is why it runs a little heavier and dearer per metre.
Lengths and weights
This range goes to 2.8m, one step longer than the 90 degree, so it covers a taller wall at the corner.

Working out the length you need
As a rule of thumb the post is twice the wall height, because the recommended pier depth matches the height of the wall. A 1.2m wall therefore takes a 2.4m corner post. Use the wall calculator to size and count your posts, and read the steel post installation guide before you dig. Where your wall has an engineered design, use the post length, spacing and pier depth in that design rather than a rule of thumb.
One thing to plan for on a 45 degree corner: the sleeper bay either side of the post is shorter than a standard bay, so work your post centres out from the corner rather than from the end of the wall. It saves cutting a sleeper to fit the last bay.
Walls over about 1 metre high commonly need council approval and an engineered design, and approval can also be triggered by loads behind the wall, a slope above it, or the wall sitting close to a building, a boundary or another wall. Thresholds vary by council across South East Queensland and Northern NSW, so confirm what applies to your site with your local council or a building certifier before you order.
Finishing the top
Close the open sections with a 45 degree post cap so water and debris cannot sit inside, and the top of the wall reads as a finished edge rather than a raw section.
